About my classes
My classes are all hatha yoga, they start with a centring breath practice, and then we move into gentle stretching to warm and move the body, there is always a challenge in the large posture (asana) of the class, but this challenge is graded, so that you can take it to your level and with help and modifications from me everyone can find a position of comfort and a feeling of achievement.
Breath work is so important to our wellbeing mental as well as physical and breathwork plays a large part in our movement (asana) within the class. I find that allowing the breath to flow with the movement helps to steady and quieten the mind.
Towards the end of the class, we begin to wind down by taking our breath work deeper with a breath awareness or pranayama practise (yoga breathing) which prepares us for our relaxation both mentally and physically.
We finish the class with a deep relaxation or yoga nida allowing the body to come to stillness so that the mind can follow.
I like my classes to be lighthearted and enjoyable but with a serious life-affirming message at the core of each and every class.
I encourage my students to listen to their bodies and learn to move with confidence.
